Cleaning up the Al Mamzar Beach or portion of it is now a tradition for hundreds of Filipino volunteers (from various schools, clubs & organizations) as well other nationalities shown up this year.  Annually, the clean-up drive principally initiated by Dubai Municipality as part of Dubai’s Environmental Awareness Week happened in various locations assigned to different community organisations.

Lightform International Filipino Photographers Guild (LIFPG) spearheaded the work since 2003 with over 1,000 volunteers with the support from the Philippine Embassy and Consulate General and in association with Dubai Municipality in the morning of  30th October.

The predominantly Filipino communities volunteers had zeal that matched up the loud call, “Clean Up the World” printed on their light blue T-shirts.  Smiling faces and willing hands turned the daunting task into a mere walk in the park. A little help from Dubai Municipality personnel to finally haul into the trucks the ugly filths and trash and the creek was perfect for endless camera clicks.
